Dresser: A Key Name in Heavy Equipment History
Dresser Industries was a major American manufacturer of heavy equipment, oilfield machinery, and industrial products. Founded in the early 20th century, Dresser became well known for its construction and earthmoving equipment, including bulldozers, loaders, and graders.
In the 1980s, Dresser formed a joint venture with Komatsu, creating Komatsu-Dresser to expand both companies' presence in North America. This collaboration combined Komatsu’s advanced technology with Dresser’s strong U.S. market base, leading to the production of high-quality construction equipment under both brand names.
Though Dresser eventually exited the construction equipment business, its legacy continues through Komatsu’s expanded global reach and the lasting impact of Dresser-built machines that are still in use today.
